Hey Love Bugs!
I know, I know… 😔…. it’s been a minute and for that I apologize. I don’t even have an excuse. All I can say is I’m workin’ on it and need a little grace. But oh how I’ve missed you!!! You guys alright? What’s been going on with you? No seriously…send me a message and let me know.
Happy Spring! Tis’ the season of graduations, weddings, cookouts, and more. The flowers are blooming, the weather is warming up, the birds are chirping, and celebrations are everywhere!
Speaking of celebrations…..
On May 13th, my youngest graduated from BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC!!!! Shout out to the class of 2023!! As a single mother who struggled financially & emotionally who now sees the fruits of her labor, I have no words that could describe my joy and pride. To watch my child graduate from college was an outer body experience. To have my oldest with me as we watched his sibling and my child walk across the stage to accept their degree was a beautiful moment that I will remember forever. To hear my mother’s emotional “well done” was monumental because she is not the warm and fuzzy type of lady.
My mother and sister flew in from Chicago to support and celebrate Tyler. I am so blessed to have family that are always in attendance. Having my family there and bonding will be a cherished memory. To say I’m on cloud 9 is an understatement!
The graduation festivities kicked off on May 12th with a commencement concert at the Agganis Arena where I thoroughly enjoyed watching my child in their element. Their God given talent takes me through several levels of emotion me every time!
Selected Berklee College of Music students paid tribute to the recipients of the 2023 Berklee College of Music’s honorary doctorates: Roberta Flack, Sona Jobarteh, and Usher. I’m proud to say that my Tyler was one of the selected to perform!

Yoooo, Usher was in the crowd watching my baby perform!!!!!! And then joined everyone on stage to thank the wonderfully talented students of Berklee for their outstanding performances!

God has favor over their life and I am blessed to be “in the room” 😉 (private reminder)
I look forward to witnessing Tyler flourish, succeed, and conquer this world.
THE CELEBRATION CONTINUES!
I celebrated my birthday on May 24th with my grown babies, my dad, and bestest good sista-friends! What a beautiful birthday! To be loved on by those you love most is precious. To be granted divine favor is a blessing. To love and embrace your authentic self is a gift. I am humbled and eternally grateful to celebrate yet another year around the Sun.

While I’m out here minding my business, drinking my water, and enjoying being single…. I get hit with the “why are you not currently dating anyone?” question. Like I’ve failed at life or something because I’m choosing myself over society’s standards. How can I possibly explain the level of peace and happiness that I have? Why even respond to a personal question like that? After all it’s really none of their business. So my only response to encompass all of that is a sweet smile that genuinely reaches my eyes. Ahhhh….to be free and happy!
These days I prefer to get lost in a book that captures my mind, or give myself a pamper session, or watch a good movie or funny tv shows…. all with a few glasses of wine.😉
“I’m good, and you?”
This is the ingrained response used in every single greeting no matter the setting. Most never answer that question truthfully unless it’s in a therapy session. We say we’re good, but is that always true?
For the first time in a long time, I truly mean it. Ya’ll, I’m GOOD! The lessons I’ve learned along the way are priceless. The growth that I’ve experienced is rewarding. The peace that I have is unmatched. The abundance I have is overflowing. To God be the glory!
My self-worth, time, energy, and presence are uncompromisable. I am in a space where my time is MY time….as I get older I become more settled within myself. I’m more selective and work diligently not to allow anyone, or anything distract me.
We are priceless, time to act like it.
After all, it’s about the journey so let’s enjoy it 😊
